1950年代のイギリス海軍（Royal Navy）にて、兵士がトレーニングや作業時に着用していた、ヘビーコットン・プルオーバーが入荷しました。製造は当時の海軍オフィシャルコントラクターであった老舗『ADMIRAL（アドミラル）』社。現代のスウェット生地とは比較にならないほど、高密度で分厚いコットンの編み地は、驚くほど丈夫で重厚感があります。
特筆すべきは、胸元と背面裾の2箇所に、無骨に刻まれた『J. NORMAN』の染み込みステンシル。所有者識別用のこのステンシルこそ、当時のリアルな『生きた歴史』を感じさせます。ウールのように虫食いやケアを気にせず、ガシガシと着用できる実用性の高さも魅力。1950年代の海軍のタフな空気感を纏う、コレクターも垂涎の完璧なアーカイブピースです。
